The *original* HATS of MEAT is back online!
Saturday, November 05 2005 @ 02:58 pm GMT, From: doug
Yes, you read that correctly! After a two and a half year hiatus, the original HATS of MEAT site is back online with all original content, including the much missed How to make a BASE-BULL CAP video.

I was going to remove my copy of the HATS of MEAT site and redirect to the original site, but I've been talking to the creator, Steve, and we're still not sure it's the right thing to do. You see, HATS of MEAT was featured on G4 Tech TV's Attack of the Show as one of Sarah's Gems of the Internet on October 10th. As a result, both the original site and my copy site have been flooded. I found out from Steve that his site received over 1,000,000 hits in October, and my site received another 500,000. The increased load means increased bandwidth which means increased hosting fees. So, we may leave both sites up.

One last note: Steve is thinking of creating and selling HATS of MEAT merchandise. Oh yeah.

Adam and Clif play Hide the Sausage!
Thursday, November 03 2005 @ 12:54 am GMT, From: doug
Yes, the Cocktail Wienie Challenge appears to have been short lived, but still, you know something meaty is happening when Adam and Clif play Hide the Sausage.

This gripping story keeps you on the edge of your seat right up until the very last line where we learn that the story is actually about cheese! It's a double-whammy!

Foie Gras protected by French Law
Thursday, October 20 2005 @ 01:24 am BST, From: doug
Never let it be said that the French don't love their food. In fact, they care about the food they eat so much that they create laws to protect it. The French passed a bill this week to protect the production of Foie Gras despite pressure from animal activist groups. Read the article from The Independent, curiously titled Foie gras is 'part of our culture', declare the defiant French. (I say "curiously" because protecting their gastronomic patrimony doesn't seem "defiant" to me... just, uh, a little French).

Just in case you get bored before the end of the article, it's really the last line that says it all: Foie gras perfectly fulfils criteria defining the national patrimony and the link to terroir that characterizes the originality of the French food model.

Loosly translated into Homer-speak: Mmmm, foie gras, aaaglgghhgl.

Eat HuFu - The Healthy Human Flesh Alternative!
Thursday, October 06 2005 @ 02:08 am BST, From: doug
Got a craving for a slow-cooked Aztec Human Stew? Or maybe a little Lechter's Liver with Fava Beans? The problem is that, for better or for worse, the practice of cannibalism is frowned upon in today's modern industrial democratic societies. So temper your human flesh eating habits with HuFu, the human flesh alternative. It is the great convenience food for the cannibal gourmand.

Wife complaining that you're tracking animal slurry all over the kitchen floor? Your worries may soon be over: your local abattoir may be going the way of the dodo!

Canned Meat: The Song
Tuesday, August 16 2005 @ 01:59 am BST, From: doug
Okay, although this song makes we want to vomit up my steak and cheese sandwich, the title is as sweet as a can of SPAM. I'm wasn't surprised to discover that the band seems to be having trouble giving their CDs away. Can you believe it?

Note to the band: Okay, maybe that was a bit harsh, but on the other hand, at least I didn't mention my rectum.

Raw Meat Too Raw?
Tuesday, July 26 2005 @ 10:11 pm BST, From: doug
Ananova has an article about an artist who filmed herself with her face covered in raw meat. Apparently vistors are complaining that they found it disgusting. The exhibit also contains videos of women urinating in the street, but as far as I can tell it's the meat face that's causing the uproar.

To me it just looks like a natural extension of Hats of Meat. Sort of like a leather face mask, but made from meat. Now that I'm thinking about it that way, it's kind of sexy, isn't it?

Thanks to Chris for the link. Note to Everyone: You do realize you can contribute these directly to the site, right?

Not Eating People
Thursday, July 21 2005 @ 03:29 am BST, From: doug
I was watching an old episode of The Tick just now, and it contained pretty much my favourite quote ever:

Perhaps, perhaps not eating people is the first step to making friends.

My Meat Music Video
Monday, July 18 2005 @ 01:00 am BST, From: doug
The music video for My Meat is made entirely with dancing, singing, plucked chickens. Need I say more? (In case you're thinking of not clicking the link, look at the picture: They're not real chickens. They're of the classic comedy rubber-type variety. So just relax and enjoy).

Meatsicle - All the protein she needs in the meaty flavors she loves!

Sometime around April-May 2003, one of the great sites of the internet disappeared: HATS of MEAT. In order to provide this meaty entertainment to the masses, Meatsicle hosted a copy of the HATS of MEAT site that was recreated using the magic that is the internet.

However, in late 2005 the original HATS of MEAT came back into existence. And Steven Bean Levy who runs the site has now started to add new material. So that meat hat adventurers are provided the full experience, Meatsicle is now redirecting all HATS of MEAT traffic to the original site. Check out the new content on HATS of MEAT

Where are the scissors?
In the drawer where they always are.
I don't know, where did you leave them?
In my hand, I've been running with them.

Hey, what's that you have in your pocket?
A bit of lint, some change, and a condom.
It's my hand.
Nothing, I'm just happy to see you.
A cellphone. On vibrate.
Pocket meat!
